When it comes to shopping in Maui Hawaii-books could be written. Here's just a little "push" to get you-the newcomer-started. The first area on the island which comes to mind is Lahaina-the old whaling capital. And when you think of store-spending in Lahaina, the first street to do it on is front street-right along the ocean. It just so happens, I have in front of me a lot of material about Lahaina Center at number 900 "Where Front Street Begins". Lucky for them, as they are about to receive a great deal of free publicity. They advertise themselves as "Maui's Premier Oceanfront Shopping Dining & Entertainment Complex". And, yes, you can begin there-or anywhere else you choose. Specially written for the, let's suppose about 2 1/2 million people visiting Maui in 2007-I'm going to list most of the stores in this complex. But, really, the entire small town of Lahaina is fun to walk-not only for spending and pretending but also for historic sights-for which you'll readily receive maps and orientation-if you want. You'll see. You'll also find art galleries crawling out of the woodwork. Fun to browse. Here's the list, taken straight, no water, from their publicity.
